Cooking Chinese Food


It is not necessary to be from China to appreciate how delicious Chinese food is. When most people eat Chinese food, they usually have it delivered from a local Chinese restaurant. However, it is very easy to make a fresh and delicious meal right in your own kitchen.

When it comes to equipment for making this cuisine, it is possible to make most dishes with pans and appliances that most people already have in their kitchens. Traditional dishes are prepared in a pan with a convex bottom called a wok. Although it is not necessary to own a wok, it does make the experience easier and more authentic.

Many traditional Chinese dishes are pan fried or deep fried, so oil is an important element in order to make the dishes properly. When adding oil to a wok, the best way to do it is to slowly drizzle the oil down the side of the pan. It is important not to add food to the pan until the oil is hot enough. Stick a chopstick in the oil and if it sizzles around it, it is time to put the ingredients in.

In Chinese culture, there is a great emphasis on balance and harmony, and this extends into the food. When making a dish, be sure to use a balance of meat and vegetable, in addition to varying flavors colors and textures. This not only makes the dish more authentic, but tastier and more fun to eat.

With some basic knowledge of cooking and Chinese customs, you will be cooking Chinese food in no time at all. Once beginning cooks become a little more experienced, they can get more creative with their recipes and put their individual spin on the food. While takeout Chinese food might be delicious, try making homemade Chinese food for a new and fun culinary experience.
